The Perkins Archives
The Perkins Archives program supports the mission of Perkins and the Samuel P. Hayes Research Library by preserving and providing access to its historical records and collections. The Perkins Archives house institutional records as well as collections documenting the history of education for people with blindness or deafblindness. These important collections are local, national and international in scope. Perkins archivists care for a wide variety of materials, including photographs, documents and manuscript, artifacts, films, audio recordings, and books, in both print and a variety of embossed printing systems. Through archival practices and preservation efforts, particularly digitization, the Perkins Archives continues to make its collections available and accessible to the public. Equitable access is core of the mission of Perkins School for the Blind. For the Perkins Archives this means providing equitable access to our collections through description, transcription, and accommodations.
